The Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive Officer of Wigwe University, Professor Marwan Al-Akaidi, on Thursday received members of the Wigwe University Creative Arts Club (WUCAC) in his office, accompanied by the Director of the Academic Planning Unit, Professor Chinyere Ukaga, and the club’s Faculty Adviser, Mr Victor Coker. The visit provided the students with an opportunity to present their short film, The Letter, which recently earned 10 nominations at the upcoming International Student Film Festival.
During the courtesy visit, the students expressed their gratitude to the University Management for its continuous encouragement and used the occasion to seek support to enable them to participate in the grand event scheduled to be held from November 19th to 22nd, 2025, in Owerri, Imo State. The recognition of The Letter at an international festival marks a significant milestone for the young creatives and underscores the growing culture of innovation and artistic expression within Wigwe University.
In his remarks, Professor Al-Akaidi commended the students for their ingenuity and storytelling prowess, describing their work as both inspiring and reflective of Wigwe University’s commitment to nurturing creativity and excellence. He lauded The Letter as a testament to the potential of Wigwe University students to compete and excel globally, assuring the team of Management’s full support to help the club maximize its potential—provided that such extracurricular pursuits remain balanced with their academic responsibilities.
The highlight of the visit was the exclusive premiere of The Letter, which drew resounding applause from all present, including members of the University Management. The short film’s success has further positioned Wigwe University as a growing hub for creativity and talent development, reaffirming the institution’s vision of producing well-rounded graduates who are intellectually grounded and artistically expressive.
