Wigwe University, TETFUND Explore Strategic Collaboration

The Vice-Chancellor of Wigwe University, Professor Marwan Al-Akaidi, has met with representatives of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) to discuss possible areas of collaboration aimed at advancing research, innovation, and academic development. The engagement, held with the Executive Secretary of TETFUND, Arc. Sonny Echono, provided a platform for both institutions to explore mutually beneficial initiatives that align with national education priorities and Wigwe University’s commitment to excellence.
During the discussion, Professor Al-Akaidi expressed appreciation to the TETFUND leadership for the opportunity to engage and highlighted key areas for partnership, including the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalize the collaboration. He further proposed joint funding support for students undertaking outstanding projects and the establishment of a Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Artificial Intelligence to drive cutting-edge research and innovation in technology.
In his remarks, the TETFUND Executive Secretary commended Wigwe University’s vision and innovative approach to higher education, noting that such partnerships are crucial for fostering national capacity and global competitiveness. Both parties agreed to take concrete steps toward implementing the proposed initiatives, beginning with formal documentation and follow-up engagements in the coming weeks.
