Any artwork or concept submitted for consideration that is deemed to be plagiarized shall be immediately disqualified.
Nudity (implied or actual), drug paraphernalia, images contrary to public policy, profanity, obscenity or other non‐family friendly Mascot design and name submissions shall be removed from the competition. Any entries deemed inappropriate by the Mascot Committee (“MC”) will be removed from the competition.
Where an entrant is found to be harassing or threatening a fellow entrant, be it physical, online or through any other platform or elsewhere, the entrant responsible for the harassment or threats or bullying will be disqualified from the Contest.
Wigwe University will constitute a Mascot Committee (“MC”) for the purpose of evaluating the submissions by each entrant of the contest. Wigwe University reserves the sole and final right of decision in the competition.
The MC will review the design and select the work that depicts, and represents Wigwe University’s visions, core-values, and standards.
The winning mascot will be determined by popular vote, likes, comments and shares. The participant’s design with the highest votes will be considered for selection as one of the official mascots for Wigwe University, subject to final approval by the Wigwe University’s Vice-Chancellor and Management Board.
The MC is entitled to review entrant’s qualifications. Where an entrant is unqualified for the competition in accordance with the Official Rules, or an entrant has made any false statement in terms of his or her qualifications to participate, the MC reserves the exclusive right to cancel such entrant’s participation or qualification at any stage of the competition even after selection of the winning mascot design.
Wigwe University reserves the right to refuse all entries into the contest, if the final submissions are not approved by the Committee, or Vice-Chancellor.
All entries submitted shall become the exclusive and final property of Wigwe University.
The winning entry for the mascot competition will receive full ride scholarship for 4 (four) years at Wigwe University for the 2024 entrance, subject to meeting the terms of admission into the University in the year 2024. This award/prize cannot be carried over to a subsequent year except at the discretion of the Vice-Chancellor and the University Management Board.
The full ride scholarship covers tuition, standard meal plans, accommodation – provision of standard room accommodation (4 (four) bedroom occupancy), to the exclusion of all other benefits not mentioned herein. It is understood that any fees, expenses or items not explicitly enumerated within these specified categories shall not be deemed covered by the full ride scholarship.
The winner will be announced on a date to be determined, no later than July 1, 2024.
I am the sole creator of the mascot artwork/design to be submitted for the Contest.
My mascot artwork/design is a completely and entirely original work and has not been copied from any other source or infringes on any proprietary rights of another.
My mascot artwork/design is not obscene, profane, or libelous and does not violate or infringe upon the rights of any third party.
I agree that all rights to my mascot artwork/design, whether in part or in whole shall become the exclusive property of Wigwe University upon submission for its use, disuse, modification, alteration, editing, publication, registration, and by submitting my entry, I hereby relinquish all interests, rights and ownership of the artwork/design.
If my mascot artwork/design is selected as a winning entry, either in whole or in part, I understand and consent to Wigwe University’s potential registration of such design, mark, colour, shape, for any trademark, service mark, or copyright purposes or for such other purpose at it may deem fit (at the University’s sole expense, and the University shall exclusively and solely own such registration.)
I hereby grant Wigwe University the absolute permission to publicize, disclose, or make known my name and photograph for promotional purposes, without any form of compensation, in connection with the contest and my mascot artwork/design.
I understand and acknowledge that I will not receive any money, payment, incentives, royalties, or compensation of any kind or form, from the University for my mascot artwork/design, or for all the rights to the mascot artwork/design, unless my mascot artwork/design is selected by the University as the winning entry. In which case, should my mascot artwork/design be selected as the winning entry, I understand that I may be eligible to receive a contest prize.
Should my mascot artwork/design/name be selected as a winning entry, I agree to complete, sign, and execute any other documents reasonably necessary or reasonably requested by the University.
I understand that Wigwe University reserves the right to terminate or discontinue the contest at its discretion and at any point in time.
I understand and acknowledge that my mascot artwork/design may be disqualified by the University in accordance with the Contest Rules and Procedures and Additional Guidelines.
By participating in this art contest, all participants agree to abide by the rules and regulations set forth by the University.
The University reserves the right to disqualify any entry that does not meet the specified criteria or fails to comply with the guidelines outlined in the competition rules.
Participants acknowledge that all submitted artwork automatically transfers the intellectual property rights over such artwork/design to the University, royalty-free, to use, reproduce, edit, and display the submitted artwork for promotional and marketing purposes related or unrelated to the contest.
The University shall not be liable for any loss, damage, or injury resulting from participation in the contest. Participants further agree to indemnify and hold harmless
the University, sponsors, and affiliates from any claims, demands, or damages arising out of or in connection with their participation in the competition.
The University reserves the right to modify, suspend, terminate or withdraw the contest at any time, with or without reason, without prior notice, and the consequential effect may result to the discontinue of the prize award or modifications of the prize terms, or a total discontinue of the competition.
All decisions made by the University regarding the competition are final and binding.
The selection of the winner of the competition is final and not subject to questioning or scrutiny, or appeal. The University reserves the right to determine the winner based on their sole discretion and in accordance with the criteria outlined in the Contest Rules.
Participants agree that the decision of the University regarding the selection of the winner is binding and conclusive. Any attempts to dispute or challenge the selection process will not be entertained.
The University shall not be liable for any dissatisfaction or disagreement with the outcome of the contest. By participating in the competition, participants agree to accept the decision of the University regarding the selection of the winner without recourse or objection.
By continuing with the application to contest, you hereby unequivocally consent to your contact details, designs, and information to be shared, disseminated, reviewed or exported to an external organization which may occur in the course of the assessment of the contest entries.
All persons participating in the competition, by submitting an entry in line with the above guidelines, affirm that he or she has acquired the legal age and right, or in the case of participants under the full age of 18 years, but not under the eligibility age of 16 years old, the required consents, permissions, authorizations, have been duly sought and obtained from their Guardian/Parents to enter this competition.
The University, its affiliates, employees, agents and partners, is indemnified and shall not be held liable or accountable for the verification of ages or any contravention of laws and regulations regarding minors, and the University hereby stands indemnified of any claims, liability that may arise against the University, its affiliates, its employees, or agents in the course of fulfilling the terms of this competition, or concerning assignment of rights, or the eventual results and administration of this competition.
