Wigwe University welcomed hundreds of prospective students, parents, guardians, and school representatives to its campus over the weekend for its Open Day and Education Fair, an event designed to provide aspiring undergraduates with a first-hand experience of the University’s academic environment, values, and distinctive approach to higher education.

Addressing the gathering, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Marwan Al-Akaidi, described the Open Day as more than an admission event, saying it was “an invitation to discover a community built on the conviction that education should inspire fearless ambition, ignite innovation, and prepare young people to lead with purpose.”

He emphasized that Wigwe University is committed to developing graduates who are equipped not only for employment but also for leadership in a rapidly evolving global economy.

The Vice-Chancellor also expressed appreciation to parents and guardians for considering Wigwe University as a partner in shaping their children’s future. He encouraged them to engage with faculty members, interact with current students, ask questions, and explore the University’s learning spaces.

“As you tour our campus,” he noted, “look beyond the buildings and experience the culture we are building—a culture of excellence, integrity, innovation, and service, where every student is supported to reach their fullest potential.”

The event featured guided campus tours, interactive sessions with academic staff and admissions personnel, and opportunities for visitors to experience the University’s state-of-the-art learning facilities.

School leaders who attended the event expressed admiration for the University’s facilities and educational vision.

The Principal of Fortebay Academy, Mr. Chinedu Okwu, described Wigwe University as an ideal destination for students seeking quality tertiary education. He commended the University’s world-class infrastructure, modern teaching facilities, and serene academic environment, noting that he would confidently recommend it to students from his school.

Similarly, Mrs. Ayotomi Fatuyi of Charles Dale Memorial International School said both she and her students were deeply impressed by what they experienced during the visit.

“I have visited a number of tertiary institutions in Nigeria, and I can boldly say that what I have seen here stands out and is comparable with the very best,” she remarked, adding that the visit had left a lasting impression on her students.
