The Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive Officer of Wigwe University, Professor Marwan Al-Akaidi, received a delegation from the Nigerian Immigration Service yesterday, which was led by the Divisional Immigration Officer, Chief Superintendent of Immigration, F.K. Vincent. The discussions were primarily focused on the necessity for the university’s leadership to collaborate with the Service in ensuring adherence to the nation’s laws regarding expatriates employed in Nigeria.
The forum allowed Professor Marwan to impart his insights to the leadership of the Service and emphasized his aspirations to assist the Service in fostering a more welcoming environment for prospective visitors to Nigeria.
“Nigeria is immensely endowed with potential, and there exist considerable aspects of this nation that remain unknown to the international community. Should the visa processing procedures be streamlined and rendered more economical, it would undoubtedly result in a significant increase in the number of visitors, consequently contributing to the enhancement of the nation’s economy,” he expressed with enthusiasm.
In her remarks, DIO Vincent stated that the visit’s purpose was to explore avenues for improving service delivery to the populace. She assured that several of the observations raised by the Vice-Chancellor have been duly noted and will be communicated to the decision-makers within the Service, to ensure that appropriate measures are taken where necessary.
