Professor Makanjuola Oki, Ph.D., MSc Corrosion Science & Engineering (Manchester, UK), BSc Industrial Chemistry (UNIBEN)

Professor Makanjuola Oki is a distinguished scholar and expert in the field of corrosion science and engineering, currently serving as the Programme Coordinator for the College of Engineering at Wigwe University. With an academic journey that began with a BSc in Industrial Chemistry from the University of Benin (UNIBEN), where he graduated with Honors, Professor Oki went on to earn a master’s degree in Corrosion Science & Engineering from the University of Manchester, UK, and later, a Ph.D. in the same field.

As an accomplished engineer and academic, Professor Oki has made significant contributions to both industry and academia. He is the Chairperson of the Professional Development Board of the Nigerian Corrosion Association (NiCA), where he plays a significant role in shaping the professional growth and development of engineers in Nigeria. His expertise is further recognized through his role as a chartered engineer with the Institute of Corrosion and the Society of Operations and Environmental Engineers in the UK. In Nigeria, he is a registered engineer with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering (COREN) and an active member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers.

Professor Oki’s academic and professional experience includes a tenure as a visiting professor at the prestigious Institute of Petroleum Studies, University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), where he contributed to the advancement of knowledge and research in petroleum studies. His research interests have led to the publication of numerous high-impact journal papers, and his scholarly influence extends to his role as a reviewer for several academic journals. A prolific author, Professor Oki has written and co-authored seminal works in the field of corrosion science, including the book titled Corrosion and Materials in the Oil Industry.

Professor Oki’s excellence in his field has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Nigerian University Commission’s Linkages with Experts and Academics in Diaspora Scheme (LEADS) and the Nigerian Corrosion Association’s Professional Development Award. His commitment to service extends beyond his professional life; he has been an active member of the Rotary Club of Agbara, where he has held the position of President and received several awards for excellence in service.

Prof. Arinola Ajayi has PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the prestigious University of Lagos, Lagos, Nigeria. He joined the services of University of Lagos, his Alma Mata, in November 2000 as an Assistant Lecturer. He rose steadily to become Senior Lecturer in October 2016. While at the University of Lagos, he held many responsible positions such as Level Course Adviser for several years, Level and Departmental Examination Officer, Member of different Committees, SIWES Coordinator, Students’ Staff Adviser.

He was elected as Congregation Representative at University of Lagos Senate in 2016, thus becoming a Member of the Senate, he was elected Sub Dean of Faculty of Engineering in 2017 and many more. He has taught many courses both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and supervised many students’ projects at undergraduate and post graduate levels as well. As at the last count, he has supervised over 70 undergraduate students’ projects, 10 Master students’ projects and had graduated one PhD candidate.

He was appointed a Full Professor of Mechanical Engineering in December 2023 at Wigwe University and Head of Department of Mechanical and Mechatronics Departments in January 2025.
Prior to his appointment at University of Lagos, he was the Fleet Manager at Evrii Corporation of Nigeria Limited where he was responsible for the day-to-day running of the Fleet. He also worked as Mechanical Engineer at Project Engineering Services, Lagos a Facility Management, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering (FMM & E) firm.

He had his Internships at the Drilling Section of Chevron Nigeria Limited where he cut his teeth in various drilling operations both onshore and offshore, and Celmeng and Associates (an FMM & E) firm.
His expertise includes but not limited to Innovative Product Design and Development (Design and Production), Solid Mechanics, and hands-on expertise in Alternatives and Renewable Energies development and deployment. He has many national and international article publications to his credit. He is a Registered Engineer (R. Engr.) with The Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) and also a Member of Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE).

Dr. Philip Adewuyi is a seasoned lecturer of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. He had his National Diploma in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the Federal Polytechnic Offa, Nigeria. He obtained his Bachelor of Technology Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering in 2008 from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Nigeria.

His Master of Science is in Electrical/Electronics Engineering with specialization in Control Systems in 2014 from University of Lagos, Nigeria. He bagged his PhD degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineers with specialization in Control Systems Engineering from Ladoke Akintola University, Nigeria in 2021.

He has taught Engineering courses across all levels and departments in the university having risen from the rank of Teaching Assistant to Senior Lecturer. He has attended various workshops, conferences, and facilitate for Nigeria Society of Engineers. He is a member of Engineering Regulatory Monitoring Team of Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria.

He is a reviewer of reputable local and international journals. He has held the positions of Acting Director of Skill Development Centre, Acting Head of Department, members of various university committees, member of Senate, and currently the Acting Dean of Student Affairs at Wigwe University, Nigeria which he joined in 2024. Dr. Philip has supervised several students at both undergraduate and master’s level. He loves farming, traveling, and collaborating
