Prolific Mataruse is a scholar who has been extensively involved in rethinking African political economy, politics, civil society, democracy, postgraduate studies, and foreign policy. He holds a Ph.D. in Political and International Studies from Rhodes University in South Africa, an MSc. in International Relations, and a BSc (Hons) in Political Science from the University of Zimbabwe. He is involved with several youth organizations and is part of several academic networks. Currently, he is working on understanding Chinese investments in Africa, bottom-up solutions in Africa, and policy-based innovations
