Wigwe University Student Represents Institution at Omniverse Africa Summit

A 200-level Mechanical Engineering student of Wigwe University, Divine Wokoma, recently represented the University and Polaris Innovation Network at the Omniverse Africa Summit held in Lagos. The summit brought together technical researchers, senior professionals, policymakers, entrepreneurs, technical experts from the African Union Development Agency-NEPAD (AUDA-NEPAD) and emerging innovators from across Africa and beyond to explore strategies for advancing technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship on the continent.

Speaking on his experience at the summit, Wokoma highlighted the valuable opportunity to connect and network with leading professionals and key stakeholders within the technology ecosystem. He also participated in a series of masterclasses focused on migration pathways, remote work opportunities, and postgraduate study prospects, gaining practical insights into career development in an increasingly globalized digital economy.

The summit further exposed participants to diverse perspectives on the future of Africa’s technological landscape. Wokoma listened to presentations and panel discussions featuring speakers and delegates from several countries who examined critical issues related to advancing technology and infrastructure across Africa. Researchers also showcased groundbreaking studies and innovations, emphasizing their potential benefits and implications for technological growth and sustainable development on the continent.

Reflecting on the event, Wokoma noted that the summit reinforced the importance of collaboration, research, and innovation in driving Africa’s digital transformation. He also revealed that Polaris Innovation Network announced plans to launch a new educational course and establish university nodes across institutions to expand its membership base, foster greater student engagement, and strengthen innovation communities within higher education.
