The Vice-Chancellor of Wigwe University, Professor Marwan Al-Akaidi, on Friday, June 5, 2026, received the new Commandant of the 29th Battalion of the Nigerian Army, Bori Camp, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Lieutenant Colonel Emmanuel Ochigbo and his predecessor, Lieutenant Colonel Irinam Joseph Otogo, during a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor.

Professor Al-Akaidi appreciated the outgoing commandant, Lieutenant Colonel Otogo, for the support the University has enjoyed from the men of the battalion since the commencement of the University and wished him well on his next posting. He welcomed Lt Col Ochigbo to Rivers State, while looking forward to a cordial and robust working relationship between the University and the Nigerian Army.
