The Vice-Chancellor of Wigwe University, Professor Marwan Al-Akaidi, yesterday received a delegation from the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) on a monitoring and evaluation visit to the university campus.
Speaking during the visit, Professor Al-Akaidi reaffirmed the university’s commitment to its founding vision of producing graduates who are equipped to solve societal problems rather than lament the challenges facing the nation.
“As a young university, we face the teething challenges that come with growth, but we are resolute and proactive in addressing them,” he said.
The PAP delegation, led by Mr. Sojuola Thompson Arewo, stated that the purpose of the visit was to assess the academic performance of PAP scholarship beneficiaries at Wigwe University, evaluate the institution’s teaching and learning culture, and review the sustainability of the partnership between the Presidential Amnesty Programme and the university.
Mr. Arewo commended the university’s academic leadership for providing a conducive learning environment for students. He noted that the quality of facilities observed during the visit demonstrated the institution’s capacity to accommodate more PAP-sponsored students in the next academic session.
The delegation was taken on a tour of the university’s facilities before holding an interactive session with PAP scholarship beneficiaries. During the engagement, the students were reminded of the importance of maintaining high academic standards to ensure the continued sustainability of the scholarship programme.
