NUC Executive Secretary Pays Courtesy Visit to Wigwe University

The Vice-Chancellor of Wigwe University, Professor Marwan Al-Akaidi, recently welcomed the Executive Secretary of Nigeria’s National Universities Commission (NUC), Professor Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu, who paid a courtesy visit to the university.

The visit, characterized by collegiality and a shared vision for academic excellence, provided Professor Ribadu with an in-depth look at the university’s rapidly developing infrastructure and unique ecosystem. During a guided tour of the serene, lush campus, the NUC helmsman expressed profound admiration for the environment meticulously crafted for learning and innovation.

The visit also provided an opportunity for Professor Ribadu and Professor Al-Akaidi to engage in cordial discussions and reminisce about their previous interactions at an international forum, reflecting on shared experiences and perspectives within the global higher education space.

Professor Ribadu commended the vision behind Wigwe University and its commitment to excellence, innovation, and quality education, noting the importance of such institutions in strengthening Nigeria’s higher education landscape.

“It was a pleasure to host Professor Ribadu not just as a regulator, but as a respected colleague and thinker in higher education,” stated Professor Al-Akaidi. “His visit is a strong encouragement for our mission. The chance to reconnect and showcase how we are translating academic visions into reality—from our cutting-edge labs to our pedagogical philosophy—was invaluable. It reinforces our commitment to working together with the NUC to set new standards.”

The engagement underlines the NUC’s supportive role in nurturing universities that push the boundaries of quality and relevance in Nigerian higher education. For Wigwe University, the positive assessment from the nation’s top university regulatory body is a powerful endorsement of its foundational principles and its potential to actively engage in the national and global knowledge economy.
